Crystal’s chairman, Martin Randall, has more than two decades’ experience in the windows industry.

Martin started out in 1984 as fitter for a company specialising in commercial installations before setting up on his own as a domestic installer. His business grew quickly and Martin soon found himself with a team of ten fitters. He also found himself with one problem that wouldn’t go away: how to find a reliable fabricator capable of producing a choice of quality frames backed up by great service.

Martin realised that the only way to get what he wanted was to make it himself and took the decision to start fabricating his own frames. Before long he was supplying other installers. However, the success of the fabrication side of the business created an unforeseen problem: Martin’s own installers were effectively competing with his other customers. Martin had to make a choice – and he chose to concentrate on fabrication.

That was more than a decade ago. Crystal Direct has never looked back.
