Charity polo tournament raises £25,000 for Heroes

Crystal Direct helped raised thousands of pounds for injured British soldiers at a recent charity polo tournament. Around 500 people attended Polo for Heroes at St Albans Polo Club on Saturday 24 July to raise money for Help for Heroes. The event, which was sponsored by other well known brands alongside Crystal, featured celebrities, amazing food and an action-packed polo competition.

TV Chef Tristan Welch, one of the founders of the event, prepared a sumptuous feast while guests enjoyed the polo matches, which featured a team sponsored by Crystal playing against The Army and Celebrities including rock legend Kenny Jones (former drummer with the Who and The Small faces), Miss United Kingdom Amy Guy (aka Siren from TV’s Gladiators) and ex-world middle-weight and super-middleweight boxing champion Steve Collins.

The event raised around £25,000 which will go towards the Help for Heroes charity which supports members of Britain’s Armed Forces who have been wounded serving their country.

Crystal’s Chairman Martin Randall says: “When we were approached about helping out with sponsorship for this event, we didn’t hesitate. The Help for Heroes charity was founded in late 2007 and has raised a staggering £1 million a month ever since! Crystal is proud to have been able to do our bit at such a first class event.”
