Crystal wears pink for charity and celebrates in Paris

In the pink: Crystal staff raised nearly £2,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign - and then were whisked off to Paris to celebrate!

On Friday 28 October, staff at Crystal Direct donned pink accessories and fancy dress to raise nearly £2,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign.

Staff really got into the spirit of the day with an array of inventive outfits. There was a group of cowgirls, a sugar plum fairy, the pink panther and two Mr Blobbys. Managing Direct Brian Geraghty also kept his word by wearing pink pants outside his trousers all day!

Chairman Martin Randall originally promised a weekend for two in Paris as a prize for the ‘most creative costume’, but choosing the best was so difficult that all 19 staff who wore fancy dress won a weekend in Paris!

Martin said: “All Crystal staff got involved in this fun day for a very worthwhile cause. We raised nearly £2,000 with a £1,000 donation from Crystal. We were delighted to support Breast Cancer Campaign, which funds vital research into breast cancer. The highlight of my day was the sponsored boxing match between the two Mr Blobbys. I’m hoping there’ll be a re-match next year!”

Breast Cancer Campaign is a unique community of scientists, supporters and people touched by breast cancer. The charity currently supports 101 research projects worth over £17.2 million across the UK and Ireland.

New machinery helps Crystal meet growing demand

Investment will increase production by up to 200 frames a week.

To meet growing customer demand and improve manufacturing efficiency, Crystal Direct has invested in a Stuga Flowline cutting and machining centre.

The Stuga Flowline will allow Crystal to increase its production by as much as 200 frames a week and will guarantee consistently high quality units and shorter lead times for customers. This prepping centre has been designed specifically for British windows systems, giving high levels of accuracy and meeting all possible sawing and cutting requirements.

The new machinery is part of Crystal’s ongoing efforts to increase company output, increase quality and meet customer deadlines.

Brian Geraghty, Managing Director of Crystal Direct said: “Crystal is dedicated to providing the best possible service and products for our customers. Over the past 12 months we have invested heavily in new machinery, including two Rotox CNC corner cleaners, to help streamline our manufacturing processes and ensure that the high quality of our products is consistent. The Stuga Flowline cutting and machining centre will help us reduce lead times for customers while freeing up existing staff to concentrate on other areas of production.”

Un conservatoire s'il vous plaît

Crystal - always happy to go the extra mile for our customers!

Crystal Direct recently delivered two conservatories to Foulbec, near Le Havre in France. The order follows an increasing number of enquiries from Europe, particularly France and Spain, for windows and conservatories. The conservatories were ordered by a small building company and delivered by Crystal. More orders are anticipated.

Chairman Martin Randall comments: “It’s good to see our products attracting the interest of a wider market and that we are able to deliver efficiently to customers in the UK and abroad. I’m not sure what exactly is causing the sudden surge in interest but I’m pleased the enquiries are coming to Crystal. Our drivers were able to deliver the conservatories within 7 days of the order coming through – and I’m sure they also enjoyed the trip!”
